Janelle Amador
Janelle Amador was born in Seattle, Washington and spent most of her life moving around. She graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (2000) and Masters Degree in Medical Engineering (2005). She worked an engineer in the biotechnology and environmental sectors for almost two decades before transitioning to teaching. As the first college graduate in her family, she is passionate about equity and access in education. In Seattle, she volunteered as a tutor in public housing and mentor at the Echo Glen Children's Center. She completed her teaching certification at the University of New Mexico (2020) and is licensed in Math, Science, and Health. She taught at Washington Middle School and the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center prior to joining GBCS. She was excited to become part of the GBCS team in 2023 and is currently the Special Education teacher at the Metropolitan Detention Center campus. In her free time she goes on camping and road trips with her dog.
