John Rollinger

John has a Special Education license with endorsements in English, Social Studies, and Science. John has been teaching at GBCS since 2021. He began as the Humanities teacher at the North 4th campus before moving to the MDC campus. Before joining GBCS he taught High School and Middle School at Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center as well as spending a year teaching 7th and 8th grade English at Aspen Community Magner School in Santa Fe. He enjoys sharing his love of literature, philosophy, and history with his students. He views education as a lifelong process and thinks of himself as a fellow learner with his students.

 

Originally from Baltimore, John moved to California at the end of the 20th century, relocating again to Anchorage, Alaska to complete his undergraduate degree in outdoor studies at Alaska Pacific University. He moved to New Mexico in 2006 to attend St John’s College, earning MA degrees in Liberal Arts and Eastern Classics.

 

John has been active in the New Mexico Shakespeare Festival and plays music around the state in his pirate band, The Tingley Beach Buccaneers. Most weekends in the winter John can be found skiing the slopes; in the summers he can be found paddle boarding and kayaking New Mexico’s lakes and rivers.
