Born in New York City, Ms. Shepard graduated from the University of New Mexico. As her degree concentrated on Art and English, she worked for some time in the burgeoning jewelry business.
As her daughters grew, Sandy morphed into the Real Estate Business and Mortgage Banking. Hoping for a career more focused on the education of young people, she looked for opportunities in that area. After substitute teaching for some time at Albuquerque Public School, a position at a Charter School as a Registrar became available. She accepted.
When the Gordon Bernell Charter School opened at MDC’s F Pod, Sandy became the Assistant to the Principal, where she continues to be encouraged by progress of these students.
