Dr. Gallegos is the mental health coordinator at Gordon Bernell Charter School (GBCS) and leads several groups at MDC focusing on moral development and changing negative habits.  He hopes to develop strong fathering and relapse prevention programs to support students transitioning from the MDC campus to the GBCS downtown campus and the community
Dr. Gallegos received his undergraduate degree at the University of New Mexico and his doctorate degree at the University of Denver. He has worked in educational settings ranging from preschools for autistic toddlers to the University of New Mexico Medical School.  He believes that education is the most important vehicle we have for self improvement and social improvement.  He is excited to be working at Gordon Bernell Charter School with a popution which he believes has been neglected by society in general and by education specifically.  He believes that the greatness of any society can be measured by the manner in which it treats its least powerful members.  He looks forward to continuing to refine mental health practices at Gordon Bernell Charter School, with the goal of infusing the educational curriculum with critical mental health principles.
