In 1979 Kerry Singleton received his BBA degree from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas.  He worked many years for the Hilton Hotel Corporation where he rose to the position of general manager.  In 1986 he was the youngest general manger in the Southwest Region.  He was also a small business owner and owned and managed several small enterprises in the Amarillo vicinity.  He began his career in correctional education in 1988 as a vocational education instructor at Western New Mexico Correctional Facility in Grants, NM.  He holds a Level 2 teaching certification and is endorsed in Business Education.  He has also worked as an ABE/GED instructor and an Education Registrar/Counselor for the Correction’s Department.  In 1994 he became the Assistant Education Director at the Penitentiary of New Mexico in Santa Fe.  In 1999 he earned his Master’s of Organizational Management degree from the University of Phoenix and also became the Education Director at the State Penitentiary in Santa Fe.  After 20 years in correctional education with the New Mexico Corrections Department, in July of 2008 Kerry brought his experience to the Gordon Bernell Charter School/MDC Campus as the Dean of Students.
