Ms. Roskom’s educational career began as a special education teacher in a variety of school settings including the UNM Children’s Psychiatric Hospital. She earned her administrative license and Ed Specialist Certificate as a University of New Mexico Danforth fellow in 1992. In the subsequent 17 years she has been principal of an alternative high school in the Albuquerque Public School system, director of 3 charter high schools and has held the title of “Educational Options Coordinator” for APS, a position in which she served as district liaison to charter schools, and developed other alternative programs and resources within the district. Since joining the charter school movement in 2001, she co-founded the Albuquerque Alliance for Charter Schools, serving as its director; she served on the board of the New Mexico Charter School Coalition, and on the boards of 2 other charter schools. She views the development of the Gordon Bernell Charter School as her crowning achievement. |
