Ms. Eleanor Papaleo Allen’s teaching career began at a Junior High School in Texas and then she worked for a Junior College in Texas.  As a graduate student at New Mexico State University she taught Freshman English.  After graduate school she had a successful career as a Technical Writer.  When her company downsized, she went back to school to fulfill a dream of studying Carpentry and Construction Management at CNM.  Her experience as a Habitat Volunteer, plus her new knowledge of construction led to a job with a local home builder. When the housing market crashed, she came full circle back to teaching English at UNM.  Her experience in Language Arts and the Trades then led to a teaching position at Youth Build where she taught English, Technical Writing, and Blue Print Reading.  She then taught English Language Arts and Reading at Robert F. Kennedy Charter High School.  Ms. Allen is pleased to be a part of the team serving the women at MDC, and she is deeply committed to the Gordon Bernell philosophy of “changing lives from the inside out.”
