Arleen Standiford teaches Social Studies and does the new orientation for the women students at the Gordon Bernell Charter School Campus located at the Metropolitan Detention Center.  She has lived in three continents, five countries, three states, and spoken four languages but is proud to call Albuquerque her home.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in school administration.  Her diverse career in education has given her experience teaching multiple subjects from pre-school to high school. Since 2000, she has supported the New Mexico charter school movement as a founder, teacher, administrator, and state board member. Teaching at Gordon Bernell Charter School has been an amazing experience for her.  Every day she sees miracles as lives are changed and hope burns brightly.  When she is not teaching, Arleen enjoys cooking, learning languages, reading, and doing fun activities with her family.  She hopes to have grandchildren someday, but right now has to settle for two dogs and a cat.
