There are 300 men and women inmates attending school in Pods E and F at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC). These pods are designated “Honor Pods” which are reserved for the best behaved inmates at the jail. Student inmates at MDC attend classes from 8:00am to 3:30pm, Monday thru Thursday. In addition to the academic courses needed to meet New Mexico high school graduation requirements, ESL and Life Skills classes are also offered.
