09.01.09 Substitute Teachers needed for MDC campus: When a teacher has to miss a day of work at a normal school, there is a large pool of substitute teachers to pull from, but what about a school in a jail? Gordon Bernell Charter School's unique setting inside the Metropolitan Detention Center has proven to be an obstacle in handling teacher absences. All potential substitutes must undergo extensive training classes with the jail staff (which we will pay you to do) before we can place them in a classroom and so far only one person has stepped up to this challenge. Right now, when a teacher is sick, we often need to cancel their classes for the day, much to the disappointment of our students. You could be a part of the solution to this problem!
